The chemical nickel is some coating that protects the contact base metal from the environment due to sealing itself than galvanic or sacrificial action. Due to amorphous nature and passivity, the resistance to chemical nickel corrosion is excellent to the environment and higher than anticorrosive properties of the pure nickel or chromium alloys.

When it is properly applied, the deposition is totally resistant to alkali, saline solutions, brine, chemical environment, oilfield, every type of hydrocarbon and solvent. The deposition also has good resistance to ammonia solution, organic acid and reducing acids. It is just significantly attacked by strong oxidant products as concentrated nitric acid.

The chemical nickel is always immune to the attack of agriculture, industrial and maritime atmosphere.
